We are proud that two of our students succesfully finished their bachelor’s study in June 2020. Tomáš Maleček will continue to work at our department in his master studies. Anežka Papáčková is switching to Jihočeská Univerzita and we wish her all the best in her future efforts.
New Publications
In January and Ferbuary, members of our group published two new articles in impacted journals. One is a collaboration of our group with colleagues from Academy of Science and poses a study of FeMnGa Heusler-like compound with various compositions. The investigation uses magnetometry and magneto-optical spectroscopy to describe the structural transition upon different iron content in the material.
Second publication was mainly done at the University in Mainz and MIT. The paper investigates skyrmion transport at different temperatures and amplitudes of driving force. It describes different regimes of skyrmion motion and reveals their deformation at higher drives. Jakub Zázvorka participated in the study with measurements at synchrotron facilities in Berlin, Germany and PSI, Switzerland.

New Cryostat with Vector Magnet
As a new addition to our experimental setup, our new cryostation with superconducting vector magnet has arrived. The setup is capable reaching temperatures in the range from 320 K down to 2 K. Magnetic field up to 1T can be applied to the sample space in every direction. Now the setup will be prepared and will be tested. We expect the setup running at full capacity soon and look forward to add the ability to apply field in any possible direction to our measurement techniques. Especially promising is the ability to connect the temperature measurement with our time-resolved setup.
The nickname for the cryostation was chosen as VIKTOR.
LaserGame Christmas Party
As every year, the group celebrated Christmas 2019 with a party playing with LaserGame. With several rounds, everyone participated and enjoyed the christmas teambuilding exercise.
MMM 2019 conference in Las Vegas
Martin Veis and Jakub Zázvorka, together with several students attended the international MMM conference in November 2019. All participants had contributions in form of a poster or oral talk. We enjoyed the discussions with colleagues and hope for further collaboration with the departments at MIT Nagaoka university.
